To be able to host SNR raes, you need to create a Race Committee (RC) account. Click on the RC Login. Then click on Create Account.
Fill out all the fields. Make sure you enter the VSK Login exactly as your login name on Vsk5.
When all fields are filled out, your RC account will be pending approval by a site admin.
You will be notified by email when your account is ready to use.
When the account is approved, return to the site and log in.
When you are logged in, you can see the new menu item on the top to create a regatta. You can click on that one to schedule a regatta, or do it after your races.
Make sure you enter the correct rules for your races and decide whether or not to score to ELO. If you choose ELO race, then you must remember to inform the other skippers. This can be done either by having ELO as part of the server name on Vsk5 or by writing it in the race chat before each race (2 minutes before the start is a good time).
Default race time is "now", which means you don't need to change it if you create the regatta at the same time as you open your Vsk5 server. A
After creating the regatta, you will see the admin interface. First you should decide whether you want discards to your series or not. If you want this, you click "Add discards" and enter after how many races a discard shall be introduced. If you enter 4, then the first discard will appear after 4 races, the seconds after 8 races and so on.
Click "Upload Race" to get your first results on the scoreboard, and the interface to upload will appear.
Click "Choose File" to browse to the result file. You find the result files under, typically on a path similar to this: "Documents\Vsk5\Results" (depending on your windows language and Vsk version.
Make sure you choose the first race of the regatta, because the races have to be uploaded in the order they were sailed.
If the file types in your result folder are CSV files, it means you don't have the latest patch for VSK. With the latest patch, your score file would have been a XML file. This file includes much more info about the race, which would automatically include the fields you otherwise needs to fill in manually, and would not include ugly formattet boat names which csv-files has.
If you want to upgrade to the latest version of VSK, please download the file corresponding to your VSK version:
Vsk5Online | Vsk5 | VskAC32
Extract the file, and replace the executable file in your VSK folder with the new one.
PS! Automap is not compative with the latest patch. If you really need automap, then dont upgrade. But do you really need it? Most of the best sailors on Vsk5 are not using it...
Check the file preview to see top 10, so that you are sure the correct file is selected. Then click "Confirm & Upload".
PS! Since SNR is based on the result files, it's important that the files includes correct information. There is a bug in Vsk5, which happens if you open the menus after finishing (typically to save the replay) while other boats are finising. These boats will then be missing from the result file.
When you have uploaded a race, you see a list of races that are already uploaded and you have the options of uploading the next race, or return to the scoreboard.
It's a good idea to upload each race right after finishing a race on Vsk5, then it's easier to pick the right one, it takes only a few seconds and it's possible to see a preliminary score board while racing.
If you have uploaded the last race of the regatta, you can click "Finish Regatta". But don't close it yet, only mark it as finishing, which means that there will be no more races in the series.
Then move on to making adjustments to the scores, if this is relevant for your race (protests etc). If you are hosting NPC, then it's less likely to adjust, but it could happen to remove disconnected boats if they had connection problens.
Click on one of the scores in the race you want to review to enter the detailed race view.
In this view, click on the buttons to the right of the boat you want to adjust. In the notes field, please give the reason for the penalty or redress.
When you have completed the adjustments, if any, click the "Scoreboard" button in the top left corner to return to the scoreboard.
When there is no more PC work to be done, click "Close regatta".
After the regatta is completed, it is possible to reopen it to make more adjustments. This will reverse the ELO scores, if it was an ELO race. Reopen is not available for ELO races if another ELO regatta has been completed after your regatta.
It's a good idea to share the scoreboard on Discord in the VSK Team server, at least if it was an ELO race.
Just click on "Share Scoreboard". Then copy either an image of only top 10, the full scoreboard or a text link to the website.
For any questions/suggestions regarding this system, please use the Discord server.
PS! Check also out the information page for hosting ELO races.
